Hello!! I hope you all are having a wonderful day! So this is a review for Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, and wow this was a wonderful read!
Simon Spier is being blackmailed, but you know, there could be worse things. Secret correspondence between him and the mysterious Blue via email has been found by Martin. Now he has to be the wing man for Martin or his sexuality will be revealed to the rest of the world. Well, his high school at least. It’s not that he wasn’t planning on telling people – he was just waiting for the right time. Now he must navigate a changing friend group and find a way to come out before it’s too late and he’s forced out.
This was an excellent book. I’m so glad I got it and that Beth and Emma told me that I absolutely had to read it. Simon is hilarious and his awkwardness is something that I know first-hand. His struggle to find his voice is something that everyone faces time to time and it was refreshing to hear it from his perspective. I feel like Albertalli did an amazing job capturing the social weirdness that is high school. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud when reading this. Plus Simon’s obsession with Oreos (and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups) is something so utterly human that I can’t help but love him.
