Bookish News: 12 September 16

Hi guys! Starting off the second full week of September here, and I can’t wait to share this news with you 🙂

This week’s releases

ICYMI here’s what went down last week

  • Miss Peregrine’s movie had it’s first screening

Photos of the first screening of the Miss Peregrine’s Home for the Peculiar Children movie surfaced this past weekend on author Ransom Riggs’s Instagram as well as his wife Tahereh Mafi’s account. (They are #relationshipgoals honestly.) Riggs has expressed his excitement for the film and has given his stamp of approval. The movie is due out in theaters September 20th to the public.

  • Illustrations for Gemina have been released

Two illustrations were released by USA Today of Jay Kristoff and Amie Kaufman’s newest book in the Illuminae Files series. The drawings were done by fellow New York Times bestselling author Marie Lu (The Young Elites) whose own novel The Midnight Star is also due out this fall. Gemina is the sequel to Illuminae which follows two teens fleeing from their home planet which was attacked by mega-corporations. It is a highly anticipated release of the fall and is set to release October 18.

  • Cassandra Clare released the title of the next book in The Dark Artifices

Author of The Mortal Instruments series Cassandra Clare named the next new book in her latest series The Dark Artifices. The second book will be called Lord of Shadows, and it’s title was revealed through Instagram. This is a series that follows characters that appeared in The Mortal Instruments and gives them stories of their own. Lady Midnight, the first book in TDA was a highly anticipated release of the year this past March, and fans have not been disappointed with the series. Lord of Shadows has yet to have a final cover or an official synopsis, but it is slated to release in May of 2017.
